Why Mandatory Lurking? Well, some of you may have played the game Space Hulk. In the game aliens that are prevented from entering the board by the presence of a Marine are said to be in 'mandatory lurking'. This idea of being forced to hang around waiting for something to change is very much like surfing the net whilst at work. Or waiting for someone to comment on a document, or come out of a meeting. Hence the name.

Well. I'm over 30, living in London, working for a government department and utterly depressed at where the Coalition seem to be taking the country - corporate fascism in action. I have two major 'hobbies' - wargaming, mostly with Chestnut Lodge Wargames group (www.clwg.org); and listening to and making music. History is my passion. I also love going out clubbing (psy trance!). Art galleries, museums and libraries are also haunts of mine. And the pub. Sometimes.
